Behringer didn't develop the concept for this module but took over the concept of the Maths module from Tony Rolando of Make Noise. Although the original Math is heavily inspired by classic Buchla modules (257, 281) from the '60s, it is an original design.

22 Ways To Use A Make Noise Maths Eurorack Module 1. Audio level control (for example, to reduce eurorack audio levels to line level) 2. A simple voltage generator 3. Mod depth control for external LFOs and envelopes. 4. Signal/waveform inversion 5. An audio mixer 6. Slew for glide/portamendo effects. 7. It has multiple ways to trigger envelopes.

On the other hand, Math's envelope shapes crush my poor little Rampage's feelings, and I feel so bad for it, considering how musical Math's envelopes sound, especially in the EXP range.

The Make Noise MATHS is an electronic music module requiring 60mA of +12VDC and 50 mA of -12VDC regulated voltages and a properly formatted distribution receptacle to operate. It must be properly installed into a Eurorack format modular synthesizer system case. Go to http://www.makenoisemusic.com/ for examples of Eurorack Systems and Cases.

MATHS (classic) MATHS builds on the tradition set into motion in the 1960's when Don Buchla adapted circuits found within analog computers for musical purposes. Buchla's Algebraic Processor, Model 257 and 281 changed the way music synthesizers utilize control voltages. MATHS continues this great tradition of sculpting the control signals we use.
